1 oz Silver $5 MAPLE LEAF 30th Anniversary 2018
Recognised as the world’s first pure silver bullion coin, the Canadian Silver Maple has been released annually by the Royal Canadian Mint since 1988. Additionally, the mint produces all of Canada’s circulation coins, precious metal bullion coins, and various medallions. One notable feature on RCM coins, including the Silver Maple, is the micro-inscribed radial lines on the field of both sides. These lines create a unique light diffracting pattern when held to the light, adding another measure of security. This falls under the mint’s proprietary bullion DNA technology.
Like most of the Royal Canadian Mint’s coins, the obverse of the Silver Maple features a profile view of Queen Elizabeth II. You’ll also find inscriptions of “ELIZABETH II,” “5 DOLLARS,” and “19880-2018.” This represents the range of dates during which Silver Maples have been minted.
