These 1 oz Antique Norse God Series Freya Silver Rounds are the fourth release in the exciting new series from Anonymous Mint and Osborne Precious Metals. All rounds in the series feature pure silver and are proof specimens with mirrored, antique finishes.
An antique finish applied to modern coins and rounds adds the beauty of age to brand-new products. The antiquing process creates added depth to the design field and brings a subtle warmth to the overall appearance of the rounds.
The reverse side of the 1 oz Antique Norse God Series Freya Silver Round includes the common design theme for the reverse of all rounds in the series. One of the Valkyrie is featured riding its steed across the sky above a battlefield, wielding a sword in one hand and wearing its standard winged helmet.
On the obverse is the image of Freya created by renowned artist Howard David Johnson. His depiction of the Goddess of Love shows Freya riding in her chariot pulled by two cats. Freya, though holding the position as Goddess of Love, oversees love, beauty, sexuality, fertility, gold, war and death. Half of those who die in war are received by Freya, with the other half going to Odin.
Anonymous Mint’s Julie Lindquist developed the concept for the Norse God Series. Italian sculptor Luigi Badia sculpted images for the blanks with the inspiration of Howard David Johnson’s fantastic Norse artworks. Osborne Precious Metals, the oldest private mint in the United States, is the production partner of the Anonymous Mint.
